Phillips raises doubts about his continuation with Liverpool: I don't know their decision, maybe they have other ideas!
Liverpool defender Nathaniel Phillips has raised doubts about whether or not he will continue next season with the Reds.
Phillips was never an option for German coach Jurgen Klopp, as he was loaned to Stuttgart, and his loan was cut off and after only one match he returned, and that was in the 2018/2019 season, and in the 2019/2020 season, the club did not loan him after the injury of the three central defenders Van Dyke, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, and the departure of Diane Lovren.
It is expected that Van Dijk, Matip, and Gomez will return again to play mainly with the Reds next season, 2021/2022, which means that it is difficult for Philips to get a chance, especially after signing the French Ibrahim Konate from Leipzig.
- "At the beginning, they didn't expect me to stay until the end of the season with Liverpool, and to give my performance," Phillips told the British newspaper, "Liverpool Echo."
- He added: "Maybe they thought I would be loaned, and then they would be able to sell me, now they have second thoughts, but I'm not sure about anything."
- He continued, "I still need to have conversations with them and see if there is a role for me, what role they want me to play."
- "It will depend on whether they see a role for me at Liverpool, and then what role it will be, I have to decide what is best for myself apart from that."
- He continued: "I've loved all my time at Liverpool up until this point, the fans have treated me very kindly this year, and I've loved getting the chance to play for this club."
- “I loved every minute I played and I want to continue playing for the club, but I also have to consider what is best for my career, and that will depend on what role Liverpool sees.”
