Zidane: We played a great match against Liverpool ... and I'm happy with Vinicius' two goals
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane commented on the goal of Egyptian Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool winger, in the match between the two teams in the Champions League.
Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1, Salah scored for the English team, and the royal goals were scored by Vinicius Junior (two goals) and Marco Asensio, by going in the quarter-finals at the "Alfredo Di Stefano" stadium.
The Spanish newspaper "Marca" published Zidane's remarks and said: "I feel very happy, but it is a mixture of feelings, after playing a great match and also we faced difficulty at the start of the second half. We played a good match. I am very proud of everyone, but there is a return match."
- He added about relying on four in defense: "We did not change anything. I paid Militao instead of Varane (the person with Corona), 4-3-3, and we did not change anything we have counted."
- Zidane added: "We knew that we could attack the wings, the two backs of Liverpool were really attacking and things went well for us, Tony's quality was clear in the past and Vinicius' speed helped us."
- On the goal of Mohamed Salah, Zidane continued: "In the second half, they shot once and scored the goal. It's complicated, but I don't need to say anything. It's football. We have been under pressure, these things happen, but I will stay with my team from start to finish."
Zidane expressed his happiness with the goals of Vinicius, continuing: "I am happy that he needed to score like Marco or Karim Benzema. He plays well and helps the team, and when he scores a goal he gives him more energy."
Zidane was asked about the upcoming Clásico match against Barcelona, scheduled for next Saturday in La Liga competitions, and when he would think about it, and he answered: “Today we should enjoy the match and tomorrow we will see, we have to calm down, we know that Saturday's match is coming, but we have to recover well.”
