The giant insurance company "AXA" allows its customers to pay with Bitcoin

The Swiss company "AXA", which is one of the largest insurance companies in the world, announced today, Thursday, that the option to pay by bitcoin is now available for all its products except for the life insurance service.

As the Bitcoin payment option does not support life insurance for regulatory reasons.

Claudia Pinentro, Head of Innovation at AXA said:

The new option is AXA's response to the growing demand from its customers for alternative payment solutions, where new technologies are playing a bigger role than ever before.

The company entered into a partnership with a broker and the Swiss cryptocurrency company “Bitcoin Suisse”, which means that the bitcoin payments will go to “Bitcoin Suisse” and will be transferred to Swiss francs for the company “AXA”.

It told the company in its media statement:

AXA does not keep any Bitcoins on its balance sheet.
While AXA does not charge any fees for using the Bitcoin payment option, Bitcoin Suisse charges a commission of 1.75% to cover currency exchange costs and transaction fees.

Axa also told that it will support more payment options in the near future, including support for the “TWINT” application, an application that provides financial payment services via mobile phone in the Swiss market.

As for other cryptocurrencies, "AXA" company said that this is not possible at the present time, but customers can contact the company and express their interest in it, to reconsider and open the way for the most requested currency.
