Pikmin is the next AR game from Pokémon Go
Pokémon Go developer Niantic announced a new partnership with Nintendo, which is the result of a mobile augmented reality game based on the popular Nintendo Pikmin franchise, which will be launched later this year.
Details are still scarce at the moment, but Niantic says the app includes play activities to encourage walking and make walking more fun.

Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto said in a statement: Niantic's augmented reality technology has enabled us to experience the world as if Pikmin is secretly living all around us.
He added: Based on the theme of making walking fun, our mission is to provide people with a new experience that differs from traditional games, and we hope Pikmin and this app will become your life partner.
The Pikmin franchise is about exploring a completely Earth-like planet with groups of Pikmin, so Niantic's Pikmin, which is about walking and exploring the world around you, makes a lot of sense.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe from Nintendo Switch is the latest game in the Pikmin series, an extension of the 2013 game that was first released for the Wii U.
Niantic doesn't mention the other games it makes with Nintendo, but the two companies appear to have secured some sort of long-term partnership.
Niantic said: We are honored that Nintendo has chosen Niantic to be the publisher of augmented reality applications in the real world, and more details about the upcoming apps are being revealed in the coming months.
Niantic is best known for Pokémon Go, the hugely popular augmented reality game that was released in July 2016.
The game is still very popular even though she is almost five years old, and Niantic has had to make some changes to the game while many have stayed indoors due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
These changes did not prevent Pokémon Go from generating money, and 2020 was the game's biggest year so far, with revenues exceeding one billion dollars as of November, according to application analytics company Sensor Tower.
