Koeman raises doubts about the nature of Pique's injury in the Barcelona-Seville match
Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman spoke about the injury suffered by defender Gerard Pique against Sevilla in the King's Cup.
Barcelona beat Seville (3-0), and Pique scored a deadly goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time, contributing to the return against the Andalusian team, to qualify his team, with the total home and away matches (3-2), for the Copa del Rey final.
Pique was injured in overtime and fell in pain, but he continued to play and after that, he did not look his best on the field.
Koeman did not resolve the matter in his speech after the match, but confirmed that it was not the same as Pique's previous knee injury, and the Spanish newspaper "Marca" published the Dutch coach's statements.
Coman said:
"We have to wait, tomorrow we will know more (after the examination) but it is not the same as his previous knee injury, it is something else, I do not know if this is something strong or it could be available in three days, we have to wait."
Coman went on to talk about Pique's performance, stressing, "Pique has proven that he is one of the leaders of the team. He defended very well and we know that he performs very well in attack."
The Dutchman added: "He was a great defender and scored the second goal for us at a very important moment, but the team was exceptional, and it is not fair to exclude any player from praise."
