Huawei launches the Petal Mail email service
It is reported that Huawei is now preparing to launch its own email service called Petal Mail to fill the void left by Gmail.
After the ban imposed on Huawei from the United States, the Chinese company can no longer access Google Mobile Services.
This means that Huawei can no longer use the popular Gmail service, however, Huawei has done a lot to bridge the gap.
Although the Huawei smartphone business is struggling in the face of ongoing US sanctions, the company is making continuous efforts to provide a good software experience across its devices.
The company has since launched Huawei Mobile Services that seek to provide an alternative to Google Mobile Services.
The company is not only working on an alternative to Android called Harmony OS, but it has also released alternatives to Google services, such as HMS, HMS Core, AppGallery, Petal Search and Petal Maps over the last two years.
Although these services have not spread outside China, Huawei has begun testing its Gmail alternative in China called Petal Mail.
Users can now register for the service, as registration gives you an email hosted with the Petal Mail service, along with the privilege to provide feedback during the initial testing phase.
Huawei's Petal Mail service appears to have a very simple interface at the moment, with two options on the side menu.
This includes incoming mail, starred mail, draft, sent mail, trash, and spam.
The interface is divided into two columns, where the first column is supposed to show all emails in the user's inbox, while the second column displays the email specified in the expanded form.
There is not much information at the moment about the new Huawei email service.
Reports reveal that the company has also provided a new virtual currency, called Petals, to its users, and information indicates that it is currently valued at 0.01 Chinese yuan (about $ 0.0015).
