Last Thursday, Apple launched a new tool that allows users to transfer photos and videos in the iCloud Photos service to their accounts in the Google Photos service easily, as it is now possible to keep a backup copy of the photos and videos in your account in the service Google's storage, whether you plan to move to Google service or keep an additional backup copy only.


First: What are the reasons for you to transfer photos from iCloud Photos to the Google service?


In general, the process of copying your photos to Google's cloud storage service using this tool may be useful for two reasons, namely:

First:

  It is an easy way to transfer everything if you are switching to a smartphone running the Android operating system, in addition to that, Google service has the same features as the (iCloud photos) service, such as: automatically creating distinctive videos with music, and automatic creation of pictures Bundled, animation and addition of filters.

Second:

 Copying your photos and videos is useful if you want to subscribe to the (Google One) service instead of the iCloud storage service, and although the two services provide the same pricing for subscription plans and monthly storage capacity, the Google service allows you to Sharing 100 GB with your family for $ 1.99 a month, while Apple only offers the family sharing feature on its 200 GB and 2 TB subscription plan.

Second: How to transfer photos to Google Photos:

  • Open a web browser on your computer, then go to the Apple privacy site via this link.

  • Log in with your Apple account.

  • In the window that appears, click on the Request to transfer a copy of your data link.

  • A new window will appear for you, showing you a summary of the number of photos and videos stored in the iCloud Photos service and the amount of storage capacity you are currently using.

  • Under the section (Choose where you want to transfer your photos to) Choose where you’d like to transfer your photos, select the Google Photos option.

  • Check the boxes next to the Photos and Videos options to copy.

  • Click on the option (Continue).


  • Log in to your account on the service (Google Photos), and then grant the tool permission to access your photo library.

  • Click on the Confirm Transfer option.

  • You will receive an email confirmation once the transcription process is complete.

Note: The copying process may take several days depending on the size of the photo library you are copying, and shared albums, smart albums, photo broadcast content, live photos, some metadata, and media that are not stored in iCloud Photos will not be copied.
