A first look at OnePlus Watch ahead of the March 23 event
OnePlus is preparing to officially unveil its first smartwatch, OnePlus Watch, next week, but the company has provided a sneak peek via Unbox Therapy.
And the long-awaited OnePlus smartwatch debuted before the company's next launch event on March 23, which almost lost the element of suspense after almost complete leaks of all the products that were supposed to be announced.
And the OnePlus Watch doesn't seem to bring many new heights when it comes to smartwatch design.
Two buttons appear on the right side of the watch (no scroll crown wheel), making it a natural-looking watch with a round face.
The watch also appears to come with standard watch straps, rather than the proprietary straps popular with companies like Apple and Fitbit.
The image also gives a first look at the new operating system of the watch, which (Pete Lau) CEO of OnePlus confirmed in a forum post that the watch does not run on a Wear OS, but rather runs an operating system similar to RTOS.
Lau's sharing also promises unprecedented premium material in a smartwatch and seamless connectivity to OnePlus phones, headphones and televisions, all while making its price affordable.
Leaker Ishan Agarwal also revealed more specific details about the specifications of OnePlus Watch.
He says: The watch comes with a size of 46 mm, is characterized by water resistance according to the IP68 standard, and includes a version of the Warp Charge system from OnePlus that promises a week of battery life for a 20-minute charge.
There is also an internal storage space of 4 GB with the ability to see notifications and incoming calls and automatically discover workouts.
Agarwal explains that the watch will be able to track sleep, stress, oxygen saturation in the blood and heart rate, in a manner that may correspond to the four colored tracking bars that appear across the background of the watch in the image of Unbox Therapy.
