A dispute between Michael Owen and Rio Ferdinand over Liverpool's readiness to win the Champions League
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, as well as Liverpool legend Michael Owen, discussed the Reds' chances in the Champions League this season.
Ferdinand and Owen were present in the analytical studio of the British channel BT Sport yesterday, during the confrontation with Liverpool and Leipzig in the second leg of the 16th round of the Champions League.
“You can exclude certain teams from the Champions League, but you cannot exclude Liverpool,” Owen said.
He added: "The shape is not good at the moment, but a victory over Leipzig could be a starting point for the team in the upcoming matches."
"There aren't many good teams this season, so I think Liverpool are a good enough team to win the Champions League this season."
Here, Rio Ferdinand interfered, whose opinion was contrary to what Michael Owen had said, and responded: "Not with this defense, Liverpool cannot go far with this defense."
Owen replied, "No, it's still a long time. Matip might come back, and we don't know what will happen as the results evolve."
Ferdinand repeated: "I assure you that not with this defense, it is impossible for Liverpool to continue with this defense."
Owen continued: "Manchester City is now a better team than Liverpool, but as soon as possible, a mistake may occur, just as Guardiola's team developed at a rapid time this season, despite the modest start."
