Realme 8 Pro comes with a 108MP camera

Oppo announced the Realme 8 Pro, an economical device that is one of the first devices to use Samsung's new 108-megapixel ISOCELL HM2 sensor in the main camera.

And while similar high-resolution sensors were more common on pricier phones, such as the Galaxy S21 Ultra, this sensor is designed for low-cost devices, such as the Realme 8 Pro.

It is noteworthy that this 108-megapixel sensor is not the same sensor used in the Galaxy S21 Ultra or even the Galaxy S20 Ultra last year, but rather a smaller sensor - 1 / 1.52 inches versus 1 / 1.33 inches - with 0.7 μm pixels.

However, it uses the same binning approach to improve light gathering capabilities by combining adjacent pixels into a less noisy 12MP image.

The sensor also supports 3x zoom, and given the use of only 12 megapixels of the full sensor, the phone has enough processing power to capture eight frames and merge them into one final image.

According to realme, the end result is better than an image from a 3x lens camera.

There is an updated Super Nightscape mode and Ultra Nightscape Video mode, and Starry mode is now available for videos as well (first such mode over the phone).

The phone can capture 240 frames (every 15 seconds apart) and combine them into an 8-second video that shows the movement of the night sky.

The 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera includes an f / 2.25 lens and a 119-degree field of view, and there are a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel black and white camera, with a 16-megapixel front camera.

Realme 8 Pro offers a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with 1,000 nits of peak brightness, a 180 Hz touch sampling rate, and a 60 Hz refresh rate.

There is a Snapdragon 720G processor, 6 or 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage, but if you need more, the microSD card slot via the triple card tray makes expansion easy.

The device includes a 4,500 mAh battery that supports 50-watt fast charging and promises up to 20 hours of watching uninterrupted YouTube videos or 8 hours of gaming.

The charger with a capacity of 65 watts can refill half of it in 17 minutes, while the other half takes another 30 minutes, noting that the phone charges 50 watts.

The back of the device, which comes in blue and black colors, features some intense Realme brands with the company logo Dare to Leap in large fluorescent letters that glow in the dark.

The Realme 8 Pro goes on sale on March 31 in the UK for 279 pounds (about $ 380).
