iPhone 12 mini production may stop due to weak demand

Apple may stop producing the iPhone 12 mini due to weak demand after the mini version of the iPhone appeared alongside the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max, which is believed to have relatively better performance in the market.

And Apple brought in the iPhone 12 mini in order to provide a major choice for consumers looking for a flagship iPhone small, however, the device was not able to meet expectations.

The iPhone mini version shares many similarities with the iPhone 12, but with a smaller screen and shorter battery life.

(William Yang) William Yang, a supply chain analyst at investment banking services firm JP Morgan, indicated in a note to investors that production of the iPhone 12 mini may be halted by the second quarter of 2021.

The discontinuation does not mean that the iPhone mini version is leaving the market altogether, as there is still enough stock to keep the small model available for some time.

Reportedly, the analyst has lowered expectations for the production of the iPhone mini version by as much as 11 million units.

iPhone 12 production forecasts have also been reduced by 9 million, while iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 11 production are expected to grow by 2 million and 8 million units, respectively.

And last month, market research firm CIRP reported that the iPhone mini version attracted only 6 percent of total iPhone sales during October and November.

And trusted analyst (Ming-Chi Kuo) also indicated last year that the iPhone 12 mini - along with the iPhone 12 - did not meet expected demand.

Given being the smallest in the series, the iPhone 12 Mini comes with a 5.4-inch screen, while the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro share the same 6.1-inch screen, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the largest in the series, has a 6.7-inch screen.

Yang stated in his memo that production expectations for iPhone 12 Pro Max could grow by 11 million units, and the analyst said: There are four new devices in the second half of 2021, and they feature smaller design, better battery life, and camera improvements.

The analyst predicted that Apple's supply chain partners would build between 80 and 90 million units for the 2021 iPhone lineup, up from 76 million units for the iPhone 12 lineup in the second half of 2020.
