Honor V40 .. the first Honor phone after its separation from Huawei

Honor has announced its new flagship, Honor V 40, which is its first phone since Huawei sold the brand to a group of Chinese partners.

The phone is exclusive to China at the moment, but the V series usually makes its way to the rest of the world under the View branding.

The Honor V 40 has a 6.72-inch curved OLED screen with a resolution of 2676 x 1236 pixels with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and 800 nits of brightness and HDR10 support.

Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor, it offers 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB UFS 2.1 storage.

There is a 4,000 mAh battery that can be charged either wirelessly at 50 watts or wired at 66 watts using a cable, with a fingerprint scanner integrated under the screen.

The rear camera provides a 50-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens, along with a laser unit to improve focus, and there is a 16-megapixel front camera installed in the aperture.

Huawei announced the sale of Honor in November due to the tremendous pressure and difficulty in securing the proper supply chain.

While Honer has worked independently of Huawei, it has relied on the parent company for many of its technologies, such as the Kirin processors.

This means that it has been hit by the same amount of US sanctions that prevent American companies from doing business with Huawei.

After Huawei abandoned the Honor, the Honor View 40 international version of the Honor V 40 may be able to reach users with the usual Google services.

With Huawei out of the picture, Honor should be able to offer Google services with its upcoming phones, including the Google Play Store.

This allows Honor to sell phones in Western markets without the big disadvantage of having to rely on Huawei's AppGallery, which is still unable to compete with the Google Play Store outside of China, where Google does not exist.

Meanwhile, Honor no longer has the advantage of relying on Huawei's supply chain, so it has to work towards establishing itself as a strong brand in its own right once the phones are launched elsewhere.

The phone is available at the moment in China at prices starting at $ 550 for the 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage version, while for $ 620 you get double the 256 GB storage capacity.
